Kanji

Kanji

This kanji is given once the baby starts weaning of breast milk (after 6 months)

Ingredients

Sabudana - 1 cup
Boiled rice - 1 cup
Roasted gram - 1 cup

Method
  • In a pan, dry fry the sabudana and rice.
  • In a mixie, add the roasted sabudana, rice and roasted gram.
  • Sieve the mixture.
  • Kanji mixture is ready.
  • In a pan, 1 or 2 tsp of kanji mixture should be mixed with the required amont of amount. Care being taken to mix without forming lumps.
  • Keep the pan on the stove, stir for a few minutes till the kanji is ready.
  • Instead of stirring in a pan, kanji can be pressure cooked for 2-3 whistles.
  • For additional taste jaggery or salt is recommended.
Tips
  • After the 8th month, equal measures of sambagodumai and ragi can be added to the kanji mixture (if the baby has no allergic reactions)
  • Beginning of 10 th month, dry fruits (almonds,cashews,walnuts) along with saffron is recommended.
  • Measurement of kanji can be increased as the baby grows.
