Red Chutney for dosa



Ingredients

Red Chillis - 8-10 chillis
Small onions- 4-5 or Big onions - 2
Tomatoes - 1
Urad dhal - 2 tsp
Garlic - 5-6
Tamarind - a small piece
Jaggery - a small pinch
Salt to taste

For seasoning

Oil - 1-2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 1-2 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Curry leaves - 5-6 leaves

Method
  • In a pan add oil, and fry the urad dhal and keep aside.
  • Then fry the red chillis and keep it aside.
  • Fry the onions and tomatoes and keep it aside.
  • In a mixie , first grind the onions and tomatoes along with tamarind.
  • Then add the fried urad dhal , garlic and red chillis with a pinch of jaggery and salt and make a paste.
  • In a pan add a little oil, fry mustard seeds, urad dhal, asafodeia and curry leaves.
  • Add the chutney to the seasoning and cook well.
  • Add little gingeley oil to enhance the taste.

This chutney can be taken with idili, dosa especially black urad dhal dosa.
