- The 1 year old is gifted with a brand new set of clothes.
- Ayusha homam is performed on the day her nakshtra (star birthday) falls on.
- Tonsuring is done on the following day.
- Ear boring ceremony is also done on the same day of the Tonsure. During this ceremony the child is made to sit on the maternal uncle's lap. In the absence of maternal uncle, the grandfather performs the ceremony.
- Boondi, the new set of clothes and ear rings for the baby will be gifted by the maternal grandparents.
- This ceremony is conducted in the family temple or some preferred temple.
- Kappu arasi is prepared by the paternal side.
