Tips for Neonate

• It is advised not to take the newborn outside after sunset.
• Drying of baby's clothes not to be done in direct sunlight.
• Wringing of baby's clothes not advised.
• A massage can be given using butter. And after that gentle massage, sun bathing can be done before it is too hot.
• Freshly purchased clothes must be washed before being used by the baby.
• It is quite sentimental to use the preserved clothes of a close family member.
• Initially dress in white color are preferred for the baby. 
• An empty cradle should not be swayed.
• Once the baby rolls over, a Sulaikai (breaking of coconut) is done at a Ganesha temple. It is a belief that Lord Ganesha will protect the baby from any injuries.
• Once the baby crawls and move around Pidi Kolukattai is prepared.
